Jasmine Threatt- Blog Post 5- Nonverbal Analysis

Ben Affleck's speech in the Boiler Room was...epic. Eye contact is nothing for him. I got the impression that if he couldn't make eye contact then his whole speech was "bull". He used all of the space he was permitted, except the chair. He stood at the front of the room and walked around the table. His clothing was professional, obviously because of his job and financial status. Another artifact besides his clothing that helped his speech was his Ferrari car keys. He used it as an example and didn't just dangle it in his audience face, no--he let them touch. His body structure was poise and upright. His immediacy behaviors ranged from his rich "smile" to his narrow eyes. How couldn't you take this man seriously? The verbal message itself involved very harsh language, assertive tones, and even embarrassing unfit candidates for his firm. This speech by far was persuasive and impressive.
