Featured Song: The Man- Aloe Blacc
This commercial influences the attitude to hear what you want (according to the title) or in my words to "do you". The commercial itself shows Kevin Garnett being gossiped about, verbally abused, and dis-encouraged to continue to play basketball because of his age. The music, The Man by Aloe Blacc, expresses Kevin Garnett pretty much ignoring everyone and their opinions and plays loudly through his Dre Beats headphones. He was focused on one thing...basketball. I love this commercial because he didn't let others get him down or affect his decision. Why should he? He's a rich, handsome professional basketball player. The song say's "You can tell everybody...yeah, you can tell everybody...go 'head and tell everybody...I'm the Man, I'm the Man, I'm the Man...yes I am, yes I am, yes I am..." The target audience is everyone, especially those who feel the need to protest and express their disapproval in Kevin Garnett's continued basketball career. The song puts listeners in a positive frame of mind! It's not only a message to "do you", but encourages others to look beyond the age. Kevin Garnett has talent. If he didn't then he wouldn't be rich and famous off of basketball. The protests, the yelling, the rudeness...it's all unnecessary because in his mind he's the man.
