Kre - Blog Post 8 - Unethical persuasion
In the movie The Truman Show an insurance salesman/adjuster discovers his entire life is actually a T.V. show. If you have watch the movie you would see that the director use the amoralism ethical approach in controlling this man's life. the self-interest of the persuader, the director, was all that mattered. While on the other hand you could say the others watching out for themselves could've been Truman himself. They, Truman, should learn from what is happening, which was what he did by recognizing the constant replay of events everyday. The intent of the director was to make a show that keep this man in the dark about his life and that mad money. Truman was the man being persuaded his life was just "good." So therefore Truman was the targeted audience. Truman was allowed freewill but only to a certain extent. He wasn't allowed to venture to far offset and ask questions that would give away that he was on a show. Obviously there was use of deception towards Truman, he had no idea that his life was a lie. People around Truman withheld just enough information to keep the show going. Now I understand this may have not been the best approach used to make this unethical, but I have hit every point and answer every question by using the amoralism ethical approach.
